Baltic Playback Theatre and Psychodrama School sent BaDDream, a young rock band just finding its feet, to a summer camp — and here’s how it ended.
The Rock Wave camp closed with a real rock concert, where the kids showed what they had learned over the session. And it was about far more than music.
More than music
It was about working together towards a shared goal, listening to and truly hearing one another, being part of a team and taking responsibility for your own piece of the common work. The session was filled with classes, joint rehearsals, games, conversation, and the simple joy of it all happening together. In our age of gadgets and virtual contact, moments like these are especially precious.
How BaDDream got there
With the support of our sponsors, the Baltic Playback Theatre and Psychodrama School — based in Liepāja and also working in Riga, Latvia — sent four teenagers to the camp: BaDDream, a young rock band in the making. Not long ago these kids found an electric guitar and a bass on their own, started meeting up on their own, and began learning the songs they love. We felt that such initiative, independence, organisation, and desire to create should not go unnoticed. And we are truly glad we could give them the chance to go to Rock Wave.
A space to try and to belong
Teenagers are a special audience. Volatile, emotional, vulnerable, and utterly sincere in what they feel. What matters most here is an environment where you can gradually let go of stiffness and self-consciousness — where you can try, make mistakes, learn, and feel like you belong. The camp’s organisers found a way to reach the participants and created a space that made room for serious work as well as attention and care.
We wholeheartedly wish Rock Wave every success in the years ahead. Projects like this are needed.
The camp is over. But the kids are left with these days — of creative freedom, of real human connection, and of the music that brought them together.
Young people don’t need to be told what to create — they need a stage.

It’s exactly why the Baltic Playback Theatre and Psychodrama School is bringing GALVA FEST to Liepāja on 30 August 2026 — an independent youth music festival where nine young bands take the stage at the «Wiktorija» culture house.
