Playback Introductory Course for Riga Teachers
On 21 October, we invite Riga teachers to a free Playback introductory course. It offers a one-day, hands-on introduction to improvisational theatre. In this method, every voice matters.
What Playback is
Playback is a form of improvisational theatre. It builds on real stories from the audience, which the actors play back on the spot. In school, Playback becomes a method where every voice matters. It works like an instrument. It helps the teacher build the group, relationships, and an emotional culture.
Why it is useful for a teacher
A way to unite the class into a group
Playback gives a voice to the quiet ones. It eases tension between students. It also makes visible what usually stays off-screen during the lesson.
A tool for developing emotional skills
By playing out stories, children notice their own and others’ feelings. They learn to name their experiences. And they learn to truly hear one another.
An instrument in lessons and in class time
The method fits naturally into lessons. It works in literature, history, and social studies. It also supports pastoral and character-building work.
Who leads the course
Beata Bērziņa leads the course. She is a Playback practitioner and theatre director. She brings extensive experience of working with children and teenagers.

Venue: Hall of Rīgas Natālijas Draudziņas vidusskola, Bruņinieku iela 24A, Riga
Participation: free of charge — our supporters cover the course, so Riga teachers pay nothing.
