The genre of the one-person show, or monodrama, is becoming increasingly established in playback theatre practice. Many trainers offer master classes aimed at developing the skills an actor of Playback Theatre to fully and deeply portray audience stories on stage.
Recently, an improvisational mono-playback perfomance took place in the heart of Slovenia, in Maribor, in the cozy atmosphere of the Bonfarto Art Café, led by our School partner, Elena Levenstam.
This event brought together the audience and the actress in a live, interactive exchange, where each plot, each emotion, and each reaction emerged spontaneously in response to impulses from the audience.
Playback Theatre performances are dedicated to serving audience stories, restoring the meaning of these stories and highlighting their uniqueness and value for both the storyteller and the audience. A playback theatre actor serves as a provider for the stories from the audience, sharing the emotions of the story’s characters and bringing them through their own life experiences.
Participation in playback performances allows viewers to discover a new perspective on theatre, where everyday stories are transformed into artistic expression and a profound experience of the moment.
